Annual 5th Grade Wax Museum

From Babe Ruth to John Deere the annual 5th grade Wax Museum and Science Project Display didn't disappoint. Leading up to "display day" students were busy researching and writing a biography about their American Hero. The day of the museum, May 4, 2017, students dressed as their hero and had some artifacts on display that told about what their hero was famous for. As visitors went around the gym, students gave a short speech about their character.

Grandparents Day

The First Grade students at West Monona Elementary held Grandparents Day. The students performed two songs and a poem for their grandparents to start off the afternoon. They then had a snack with their grandparents. When they were finished they worked together to plant seeds to help the pollinators that are dying off. The students are watering and taking care of their plants at school and will get to take them home and plant them to help the pollinators.

Senior Girls attending Senior Tea.

The Chapter EF P.E.O. with members from Onawa, Mapleton, Moorhead, Pisgah, and Whiting sponsor a Senior Tea each spring. West Monona had 18 of the 20 senior girls in the 16-17 senior class attend the Senior Tea.

West Monona Elementary Safety Lessons.

Iowa State Trooper Officer Shelby McCreedy visited West Monona Elementary on Monday, April 17. She presented two lessons for the students. Grades PK-2 learned about strangers through the "Check First" presentation and grades 3-5 had "Internet Safety."
