On Monday, September 24, West Monona Elementary students and staff chose to wear purple to support one of their own. Coraline, a Spartan second grader, has been battling a tumor since just before school started. She has been through multiple surgeries and has a line of treatment planned for the coming months. Despite all of this, Coraline has maintained a positive attitude and has even been keeping up with her homework and testing while at home. With Homecoming week upon us, the students decided to skip the grade level color day, instead deciding to wear purple to support Coraline. What a great tribute to a wonderful little girl.
