West Monona HS Students of the month - OCTOBER

Ms. Trout for Carly Miller - Carly is a breath of fresh air and shows up every day to class with a positive attitude.  She strives to do her best by giving 110% each and every day. She is helpful to her fellow classmates and kind to everyone around her.

Ms. Shaw for Jake Miller - Jake works hard in class and is always willing to put in extra work when he feels he needs to. He goes out of his way to make those around him smile and break up any negativity with a remark and a grin.

Ms. Stump for Miella Struble - Miella is one of the sweetest students I have ever taught. Every single day she walks into my class with a friendly smile and responds happily to my greeting in Spanish. During class, she always puts forth her best effort and is extremely attentive and respectful. Even though she admitted that she is a bit quiet, she is a positive contributor to class and works well with everyone.

Mr. Pash for Dylan Stroman - Dylan has been a great leader by example for me over the past four years. Dylan is always the first to class and the last to leave, making sure the weight room is picked up and clean. Dylan is an extremely hard worker and my middle schoolers often talk about Dylan due to his effort. Dylan often takes time out of his routine to make sure they are doing the lift properly. Dylan is always encouraging to his classmates and lends a helping hand when needed. Last but not least, Dylan never misses a day of lifting and that includes the days we have no school such as the Friday after parent-teacher conferences.

Mrs. Doorenbos for Tyler Corey - Tyler is a dedicated student in Geometry and puts in the extra effort. If he misses class he communicates efficiently and gets his work made up quickly. He doesn’t just do the bare minimum when we review. Instead, he will do extra problems to make sure he is prepared for the test. His effort is a great example for other students!

Ms. Wedeking for Tehya Donahue - Tehya has shown a lot of growth since the beginning of the school year. She has been putting extra effort into learning math and completing her work on time. She has gained a lot more confidence in the classroom, and it is helping her to be very successful.

Mr. Stegge for Tasha Miller -  Tasha has been a great influence in Physiology this year.  She is focused in class and will attempt to answer questions even when unsure of the answer.  This shows that she is internalizing the information being taught. Maybe even more important is Tasha’s ability to let me know respectfully what is on her mind concerning the class.  That kind of feedback is valuable in directing students through areas of uncertainty or difficulty and enrich the learning of the entire classroom.

Mr. DeRocher for Talor Bryan - An epiphany is an awakening. It is always nice when I observe a student who has had an epiphany in math. Talor Bryan has experienced an epiphany in math and deserves some recognition for it.

Mr. Potter for Hannah Messerole- Hannah is an all-around excellent student.  She is consistently in school and to class on time. She is prepared for class and has her materials. Hannah turns her work in on time, completely, and correctly.  She always has a positive attitude. Hannah is an active listener that has been very involved in class this year. She understands the information and the concepts we are covering in class.  Hannah is a pleasure to teach.

Mr. Moore for Sydney Struble - Sydney has done an excellent job as my work study student!  She uses her great sense of humor to interact and motivate students in the 8th grade. She has helped develop SCL projects and is always willing to run to the copier.

Ms. Brockman for Jordan Buske - I am nominating Jordan because every day that we open the gym during lunch he is respectful, follows the rules, and then stays behind to pick up any stray balls that were left behind. He also has a very positive attitude and sets a good example for other students in the gym as to how they should behave.

Mr. Groves for Carter Nichols - Carter has displayed an outstanding work ethic. He has challenged himself to take on tasks that are new and challenging. He is willing to help others whenever needed. Is producing an outstanding project.

Mrs. Fox-OReilly for Keagan Gosch - Keagan goes outside of his comfort zone to add more skill and creativity to each of his art projects. He is a positive and encouraging leader in the classroom and a stellar example of learning through life with a growth mindset.

Mr. Donnelly for Ariyah Williams - Ariyah “is recognized as “Student of the Month” because of the motivation displayed in her work and the excitement for life revealed by her smile.

Mrs. Mann for Enya Martinez - At the District FCCLA meeting, Enya made sure all of the district officers had a specific part in the program.  Preparing for the meeting months in advance and making sure everything was ready for the day. West Monona had 96 MS-HS members in attendance, it was a great day of Leadership and Service for West Monona.

Ms. Rewinkel for Blake Crosgrove - Blake is kind and hard working. He says hello or good morning Ms. R AND tells me to have a good day when he leaves class, EVERY DAY! He has also proven to be a hard worker. He has been setting goals for himself every chapter and actively pursuing those goals with determination. All of his hard work has been paying off and his grade is starting to reflect that. He has the ability to make people’s days brighter and does. Thank you and keep it up, Blake!

Mr. Pitt for Jada Smith - Jada brings a positive business-like attitude to class and exhibits positive social etiquette.

Mr. Zeleny for Logan Feige - Logan is a bright spot in class, who always does exceptional work.  He is helpful to others in the class, is a positive influence on others, and he is always willing to volunteer and share out in class whenever needed.  Congratulations Logan on being named student of the month.
