Information Update

Good afternoon Spartans!

While planning isn’t a privilege many of us have had during this unusual time, we are hoping to provide our families with as much information as possible. Here is an update on our postponed activities:

Summer Sports: A decision will be made by the Governor by June 1st

Prom: Rescheduled for Saturday, June 20th

If summer sports are canceled on June 1st, then prom will be canceled.

Graduation: Rescheduled for Sunday, June 28th

If summer sports are canceled, there will be a modified graduation ceremony. Mr. Chesnut will be working with the seniors regarding the format of the ceremony. The format will meet CDC and Iowa Department of Public Health guidelines.

Fitness Center: Closed until further notice

Unfortunately, we are unable to open our fitness center, though the Governor has allowed fitness centers to reopen given a specific set of circumstances. We are unable to monitor and enforce the limitation of participants, social distancing and hygiene requirements that are required of fitness centers that reopen. Please know, though, that all facility contracts that were active March 16th (our first day of closure), will have their contracts extended for the timeframe they were unable to access our facilities.

Reminders:

  • Friday, May 15th, Seniors turn in their devices, pay any outstanding dues, and turn in any work that is missing.
  • By May 15th, Senior Awards will be posted on our website.
  • Friday, May 29th All students with devices will turn them in on this date.

Details of the above will be communicated by the principals.

Teacher Appreciation Week is this week! Since we can’t thank them in person, encourage your child to write a note of thanks to their teacher(s), make a sign to post in your window, or send them an email letting them know how much they mean to you! Teachers truly are our superheroes!

This month is Board Appreciation month. Reach out to our board members and let them know you appreciate their service! Their email addresses are listed on our website. The following individuals dedicate hours of their personal time to our district as school board members: Shannon Kennedy, Al Carrier, Bart Heisterkamp, Geri Johnson, and Chris Kennedy. Thank you for your dedication to our students, staff, parents, and community members!
