The West Monona and West Harrison high school art students have a great deal to celebrate!
The Buena Vista University Art Gallery in Storm Lake, Iowa, chose 9 West Monona/West Harrison art pieces for the WISE Exhibit. Displayed from February 17-March 16, 2024, the Western Iowa Salon Exhibition celebrated high school artworks from the tristate area. Miya Hillman was awarded 3rd Place, and a $75 cash prize, for her mixed media compilation. Kendra Miller was awarded Juror’s Mention for her acrylic painting. Other artworks in included in the WISE show were:

Miah Hillman was also honored earlier this month in the Regional Scholastic Art Competition, hosted by the Belin and Blank Center, in Iowa City. Image Rich Collage drawing received a Regional Silver Key Assortment of Items Reflection drawing received a Regional Gold Key, and is currently being judged in New York, as it competes for national recognition.
The West Monona and West Harrison art students also participated in the Western Valley Conference Art Show, hosted by Westwood, March 21, 2024. The 15 National Art Honor Society students that attended participated in an art themed escape room activity, created polymer food sculptures and explored different fun break out sessions.
