The West Monona Foods Classes participated in  "Bake for Good".  This program allows students to learn, bake and share in their community.  This program is offered by King Arthur Flour.  After registering the students who would be baking, the students picked Center Heights to be recipients of the bread/rolls that would be baked.   King Arthur Flour sent us the flour, yeast, recipe booklets, bread bags for sharing and a bench/dough scraper for working with the dough. Students studied the recipe, watched videos, and planned for baking.  Each student did all of the baking at school.  They each followed the same recipe for the bread, but they were able to pick how to shape their dough.  They could make a bread braid, crescent dinner roll, basic dinner roll, a knotted dinner roll or a basic loaf of bread.  Through the program students donate half of what they have baked and take home the other half.  Students were so proud to donate and enjoyed sharing the baked goods with their families.  Students received a complementary recipe booklet and dough scraper to take home.  Parents of these students should be very proud of their children and encourage them to bake at home.
