West Monona News

Happy Friday West Monona Spartans!

As you have probably heard, we have been given the go ahead to play baseball and softball this summer! Practices will begin on June 1, with games beginning June 15th. We are not allowed to have concessions. When games are played, fans are encouraged to bring their own chairs to sit in (spacing 6 feet between non-household members).  The boys’ and girls’ associations will be providing us with more detailed guidance late next week. Stay tuned for more info then!

Guidance was also provided to us stating that the ONLY activities allowed during June were baseball and softball. Weight rooms are to remain closed, open gyms are not allowed, and Prom is not allowed. At this time, we are allowed to have graduation as long as we adhere to public health guidelines. We are going to make every effort to have an in-person graduation. If what we have planned is not acceptable according to public health guidelines at that time, our seniors have voted for a drive thru graduation and parade as an alternative. Graduation will take place June 28th.

Next week is our last week of school and voluntary continuous learning! Middle School students will return their devices and any other school materials they may have on May 28th from 2-5 p.m. Juniors will drop off school property May 29th from 9-10 a.m., Sophomores on May 29th from 10-11 a.m., and Freshman will drop off their devices from noon-1 p.m.

Have a safe and happy Memorial Day Weekend!
