The West Monona 5th graders were able to have a virtual field trip experience on Wednesday, March 10. We’ve been studying the Underground Railroad in Social Studies and we were able to tour the Jordan House in West Des Moines. The Jordan House was a stop on the Underground Railroad as slaves headed north to freedom. Our live tour guide explained how runaway slaves knew if it was safe to come to the house and showed us many neat objects in the house. The tour guide was impressed with our previous knowledge of the Underground Railroad and with the questions we asked.
