Waukee FBLA chapter invited several Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA)  Iowa Chapters to their event on September 30 at the Waukee Innovation and Learning Center, Waukee, Iowa where they hosted the Secretary of State for Iowa, Paul Pate.  FBLA is a new Career Technical Student Organization for West Monona.  West Monona's Chapter Vice President, Selma Gurdal (Junior), Parliamentarian, Peter Alexander (Junior), and Adviser, Mrs. Solomon, Business Teacher attended the event.  Secretary Pate shared the following information:  Support of Iowa Businesses, Career Paths in Public Service, Education, Business, and Politics.  There was time for supporting responses to audience questions, where students were eager to understand his views on minimum wage, the age for hire, along with networking and developing key connections for their future endeavors. Paul Pate said, "To be an entrepreneur one must have a dream in their heart, then learn the skills and advocate to educate oneself."  A piece of advice Paul Pate left the students to ponder:  "Dig deep and know your weaknesses, then take classes in those weaknesses to make you a stronger person."
