Happy Saturday Spartans and Wolves! The girl's wrestling team is back in action today at the Logan-Magnolia tournament, wrestling started at 8:30. The boy's wrestling team is also in action today in Neola at the Tri-Center tournament. The JV boys basketball team is in Dunlap, the first game against Glidden-Ralston is at 10:30 and the second game against Boyer Valley is at 1:30. GO SPARTANS & WOLVES!!!
Happy Friday Spartans! The basketball teams are back in action tonight at home vs. River Valley. JV boys and girls will each play 2 quarters tonight. JV girls will start at 4:45 with JV boys to follow. Varsity girls will start at 6 with varsity boys to follow. GO SPARTANS!!!
The West Monona School Board has adopted a policy to accept donations to assist students and families with paying for school lunch and breakfast. The policy allows the district to accept donations and distribute those funds to needy students and families based on specific guidelines. Donations to this fund as well as student and families that receive donated money are confidential. If you or someone you know, is interested in making a donation please contact Sandy Mortensen, Nutrition System Assistant at 712-433-2043.
Students and families do not apply to receive funds as part of this policy as you can see below and there are limits to how much a family could receive in a year. However, if your family DOES NOT wish to have donated monies applied to your account you will need to contact Sandy Mortensen, Nutrition System Assistant at 712-433-2043 to make that request and complete a the required form.
It is our hope that by implementing this policy we are able to assist some of the students and families at West Monona who are in need.

Happy Thursday Spartans! The basketball teams are back in action tonight as they are heading across the river to Nebraska to battle Tekamah-Herman. Both JV boys and girls will start at 4:30, boys in the south gym and girls in the north gym. Varsity girls will start at 6 and varsity boys to follow, both in the south gym. Happy Thursday Spartans! The boy's wrestling team is back in action tonight! The wrestlers are at home in a WVC meet and it is Senior Night! We will recognize the seniors after the first dual. Tonight is also Youth Night! The youth cheerleaders will be performing before the senior recognition and the youth wrestlers will get into tonight's meet for free! Wrestling starts at 6.
Happy Wednesday Spartans! The 6-12 Winter Concert has been rescheduled to January 12th at 7:00 pm at Ooten Auditorium. GO SPARTANS!!!
West Monona will have a 2 hour late start tomorrow, Wednesday, January 4th due to the slippery road conditions.

School resumes for students tomorrow, January 4th. We will have a regular start time at 8:20 for our first day of 2023.
The HS Girls Wrestling Meet in Sheldon tomorrow has been canceled. We will not have practice tomorrow, January 2nd. We will practice on January 3rd at our normal time, weather permitting.
Reminder that elementary students are invited to wear pajamas to school today.
High School Schedule for 12/21/22
8:00 = Teacher Prep
9:00 = Bus arrival with students.
9:30 = Period 1 Test - All period 1 classes test.
10:30 = Break
10:40 = Period 2 Test - All period 2 classes test.
11:40 = LUNCH - only one HS lunch
12:10 = Period 3 Study Hall: HS students don't have to stay -- Open Campus. Those that stay will go to their 3rd period class.
12:30 = Dismissal
-Period 3, 4, and 5 tests are canceled.
West Monona Community School District will still have it's normal 1 hour Wednesday late start. High School/Middle School will start at 9:20 AM. Elementary will start at 9:25 AM.
West Monona will be dismissing at 12:30 tomorrow afternoon, Wednesday, December 21st due to the winter storm warning.
**6-12 WINTER CONCERT DATE** Due to the expected weather Wednesday night, the 6-12 Winter Concert has been postponed to a date in January. The new concert date will be announced in the coming days.

With the forecast wind chill temperatures of -35 below all day on Thursday, we are going to cancel school for Thursday, December 22nd. Making this announcement now is intended to let classes complete end-of-semester activities before the break and allow families adequate time to plan.
