Attached is a link to the latest guidance regarding COVID-19 Isolation and Quarantine. Isolation is for those who are COVID positive and is mandatory. Quarantine is for those exposed and includes recommendations that are voluntary. This is not new information. The biggest difference in the new guidance is the ability for the isolation period to be reduced to 5 days IF the individual returns to school wearing a mask for an additional 5 days. SPARTAN FANS! It is a Spartan Tuesday! After a HUGE win last night for the Spartan girls, the basketball teams are back in action tonight in a WVC rivalry game against the 13th ranked, Westwood Rebels at home! JV girls @ 4, JV boys @4:30, Varsity girls @ 6 with the varsity boys to follow. The Spartan wrestling team will be in Sioux City tonight at the Bishop Heelan Quad. Wrestling starts at 5. GO SPARTANS!!!
The HS weight room will be closed for cleaning effective immediately through 3:30 tomorrow afternoon. This includes the cancellation of zero hour and 6th period Advanced Health Topics classes tomorrow, 1/11/22. This is not a planned closure, but could not be helped. West Monona Families and Staff, Our school district recently learned of an anonymous, nationwide threat against schools that is being shared on social media outlets such as TikTok. The general threat toward all U.S. schools declares Friday, Dec. 17, as “American School Shooting Day.” The posts warn about the possibility of nationwide shootings or bomb threats associated with this day. We have partnered with local law enforcement to vigilantly investigate whether there are any local connections to these social media posts. At this time, law enforcement has not acquired any evidence that would deem these threats as credible in our area. Out of an abundance of caution, our schools will be in close contact with law enforcement throughout the day on Friday and law enforcement will have an increased presence at the school. Please take this opportunity to talk with your students about the appropriate use of social media, and the seriousness and resulting consequences of making any kind of threat. Encourage your students to speak with you or an adult at school if they see or hear something so immediate action can be taken. In addition, if anyone in our community sees something suspicious, please report it to the school immediately or call local law enforcement. Thank you for your understanding and assistance. Happy Thursday Spartans!!! Your Spartan Wrestling team is in action tonight AT HOME in a Western Valley Conference quad on SENIOR NIGHT against Westwood, OA-BCIG and Kingsley-Pierson. Wrestling will start at 6:00pm. Senior recognition will be after the first dual. The Spartan Basketball teams are in Ida Grove tonight in the rescheduled game from 12/10. JV girls will play 2 quarters starting at 4, with JVR boys at 4:30 and JV boys at 5. Varsity girls will start at 6 with the boys to follow. The JH girls basketball team is also in action tonight vs. Woodbine at home with a 4:00pm tip-off and playing 1 game. GO SPARTANS!!!
