**SPARTAN VOLLEYBALL ANNOUNCEMENT** Per Western Valley Conference for the WVC Volleyball Tournament that will be held at West Monona on Saturday: "Spectators will be limited at the conference volleyball tournament. Tickets will be REQUIRED and COLLECTED at the gate along with a $5.00 admission fee for both adults and students. Spectators MUST HAVE A TICKET to enter the tournament. Each athlete will be given a number of tickets to be handed out. Children age 4 and under will be admitted free and will not need a ticket. Spectators are required to wear a face covering at all times at volleyball matches." We are striving to keep our students, staff, and community safe during these challenging time. We ask that you please follow these guidelines for this tournament. GO SPARTANS!!

At their meeting last evening, the West Monona School Board approved a change in the district calendar. Beginning September 30th, school will start 2-hours late instead of 1-hour late on Wednesdays. This change will be in effect from September 30th through the end of the first semester on December 22nd. The Board will revisit the topic in December to determine if any change is needed for the 2nd semester.
The Board reached this decision with input from the community and staff. A survey, completed last week by 253 people from the community, showed that over 78% of those participating felt they could make this calendar change work compared to just under 22% who felt it would be difficult. The Board also received input from staff who felt additional preparation time was needed given the demands of providing online learning opportunities for students who have either chosen to learn online or who are required to learn online due to quarantine requirements.

We will be recognizing the brave men and women that have served and are currently serving this great nation! We will also be recognizing our Hometown Heroes! This includes any medical personnel, firefights, and police officers. All Veterans, Active Duty Military, Police, Fire, and Medical Personnel will be admitted to the game FREE! Approximately 7:45 during half time-mini dance clinic performance followed by Youth and Junior High football will be announced followed by the mini cheer clinic performance.
Mini dance and cheer will meet during second quarter at the north end of the stadium, PK cheerleaders find Audrey Ingram for shirts and bows.
Youth football will meet at the northwest corner of the track with 5 minutes left in the second quarter.

Due to a player availability issue, Tuesday's (9/8) JV football game vs. M-M-C at West Monona has been canceled and will not be made up this year.
Elementary parents: With the cheer and dance clinic taking place this week, we have had some confusion with dismissal. If your child is attending the cheer clinic after school today or the dance clinic after school tomorrow, please contact your child's teacher or the office. We need to know that your child has permission to change their dismissal procedure to attend the clinic. Thank you!
